CARL PRECHEZER - From directing movies to commercial advertising and branded content, Carl’s career has crossed many boundaries. As they say, it’s not what you know, it’s how you use your knowledge to produce results.

So what does it take to sustain a 30+ year career? How do you come back from a traumatic feature film debut to win awards, develop new skills and knowledge?

As chair of this year’s Blue Juice Sessions, Carl will be bringing his D+AD Masterclass, commercial counselling and creative business experience to these specially curated sessions.

  • What does it take to survive a disaster?

Blue Juice went over budget and over schedule on day one. But overcoming the challenges had nothing to do with practical solutions. It was all about mind over matter. So let’s start off by discovering:

    • Who are you and why are you here?

    • What personal characteristics do you need to have a successful career in the creative industries?

    • How important are practical skills and knowledge? And how do you keep it going for 30+ years while also staying happy and healthy?

How do you live one life with no fear?

    Session features Carl Prechezer

  • Hear from working professionals whose roots began with Blue Juice and find out how that beginning shaped their narratives.

    • Gain an insight into the do’s and don’ts of carving your way through the industry.

    • What can we learn and build on.

    • Where is the industry at right now + where might it be going?

    Speakers to be announced.

  • Lead by Film and TV’s skills experts, this session will be built around actual skills and opportunities that exist right now:

    • What are the real challenges of working nowadays?

    • What practical solutions exist for finding the right job for you.

    • Is there really a job for everyone?

    Speakers to be announced.

  • Q+A’s will run throughout the sessions but please also email us before if you have any specific questions:

    • It’s your chance to ask all of your burning questions to a lineup of professionals who have seen it all!

    • Get reliable and proactive responses and leave feeling upbeat about your creative future.

Hear from the professionals - there’s nothing like learning first hand from the people who’ve been there and done it. And as Gideon would say - ‘Whatever you want to do, why not do it now!’

We all have reasons that stop us from following our dreams, some real some in our minds, but it’s often inspiring and useful to discover the truths from locals who’ve found a way to overcome their fears and build a career their own way.

In this session we’ll hear from those people about how they got started and stay connected in the ever changing world of production + what new opportunities there are beyond the obvious.

THE INDUSTRY estimates a need for between 15,130 and 20,770 additional full-time equivalent employees by 2025.

ScreenSkills is the UK’s industry-led skills body for film + television (covering children’s unscripted, and high-end) animation, and gaming.

But it doesn’t stop there, they also provide careers guidance, job profiles, and resources - including advice for teachers and parents.
